How far in advance should I shop for my wedding dress?

All of our wedding dresses are made to order. We recommend shopping for your wedding dress at least 8-10 months in advance (depending on the designer). Most wedding dresses take about 4-6 months to arrive after ordered. A bride must take into consideration that extra time is needed for fittings and alterations, once the dress arrives. Many wedding dresses are available rush for additional charges and we do sell some of our samples off the rack. Please inquire if your wedding date is close so we can better assist you. Life comes pretty fast sometimes, and we understand that love can’t wait — we do our best to ensure we can make all our brides’ wedding dress dreams come true.

How long do IVOIRE appointments last?

Individual consultations last between 60-90 minutes; providing our brides and their families access to private dressing room and seating area for her family and friends. Shopping for the right wedding dress is an extremely special shopping experience — you deserve only the best.

What are IVOIRE bridal appointments?

Bridal appointments are one-on-one consultations in order to provide brides and their families the best possible wedding dress shopping experience. Our bridal boutique shop is quite intimate, and is booked often, so please contact us in advance. A bridal appointment is needed in order to view our wedding dress collection. You can schedule a bridal appointment  directly online. $30 refundable deposit is required to book your appointment. We are booked up way in advance, and most days we have a waiting list of brides eagerly waiting to visit our store. This $30 deposit is to help avoid last minute cancellations in order to be able to accommodate other brides. Failure to honour or cancel your appointment within the required 24hrs notice will result in a loss of your deposit. The $30 deposit will be fully refunded upon arrival to your appointment.  Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone at 514-389-7575 if you need a further information. We would be happy to help anyway we can!

When do I arrive?

We ask that our brides and their families arrive on time for their appointments. In most cases, we have appointments immediately prior and immediately following your appointment so you should not arrive early or late as a courtesy to all our brides.

How many people should I bring to my appointment?

We recommend that you bring one to three individuals who are key in helping you choose your wedding dress. Our bridal boutique is an intimate experience and we try to accommodate larger groups with a maximum of 4 individuals (including the bride). We generally find that too many people make it hard for brides to decide on what wedding dress they truly love; and may detract from the overall experience.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring photos of wedding dresses that inspire you, as well as wedding inspiration boards and most importantly bring and open mind! Don’t be surprised if you find a dress on your first visit. Your consultant will be with you in the dressing room to assist you into each gown, so wear something you are comfortable in.

How do I pay for my dress?

We accept the following forms of payment; Visa, Mastercard, Debit, Cash. We require 50% non-refundable payment upon signing of your bridal contract, with the remaining 50% due upon pickup of your dress.

Do you offer refunds? Are cancellations possible?

There are no refunds and/or cancellations on purchases. The material orders are placed with the designers and their production houses once a bride signs her wedding dress contract. Therefore, unfortunately we are unable to accept returns and/or offer refunds/cancellations in any capacity no matter what occurs post purchase and signature of the wedding dress contract.

Do you offer alterations?

Yes, we certainly offer alternations in-house, by the most respected and very talented seamstresses in the industry. Extra fees apply.

How often do you get new wedding dresses?

We receive new wedding dresses often. IVOIRE orders throughout the year to ensure that we have the most current collection of couture wedding dresses. We attend multiple markets to ensure the most diverse selection of styles and prices.

Do you carry alternative sizes?

Bridal sizes do typically run slightly smaller than standard sizes, so please keep this in mind when selecting a size. Most of our sample wedding dresses in store are available in size 4-24. We do take orders for plus size, petite, and tall brides, but please consult with IVOIRE to discuss the sizing specifications for each of our wedding dress lines. Additional fees may apply for pattern changes at our designer’s workshops.

Can I take pictures or Video Call?

We ask that you wait to take pictures or video until you say  “yes to the dress”  We want to make sure we use your appointment time efficiently to find you the perfect wedding dress. It is also a good idea to ask your friends not to take photos to ensure they do not accidentally post to a social network; we wouldn’t want your future husband to see the wedding dress before the big day. Keep in mind that a cell phone camera certainly does not show the true beauty of our gowns.

My plan is to lose weight before my wedding.  Should I purchase a smaller sized gown than I presently wear?

This is not recommended. A wedding gown is always easier to be taken in, than let out. Generally, alterations cannot increase the size of a gown, they can, however, make a slightly loose gown fit perfectly. When in between sizes, always order the larger size, as a dress can easily be altered down, but rarely altered up. Ivoire is not responsible for inaccurate size ordering, or an incorrect size due to a customers change in size during the dress production period.

What accessories do we carry?

We carry a wide assortment of couture accessory designers; belts, sashes, wedding jewelry, veils, headpieces, pins, hair clips and bands.

What is a Trunk Show? Is it like a sample sale?

Yes, and no. Yes, in that there are lots of dresses to choose from and great incentives that are offered. No, in that the dress you fall in love with is not the one you walk out the door with that day. A Trunk Show is a special event in which we showcase a designer’s newest collection of wedding dresses. Since we only carry a selection of wedding dresses from each of our designer’s collections in our normal inventory, trunk shows allow brides the opportunity to see and try on wedding dresses that would not ordinarily be at the store. However, we do have the ability to often-overnight specific wedding dresses from these collections for our brides to try on in-person; shipping fees apply. Our trunk shows are planned well in advance and our shows typically last three to four days over the weekend. However, we like to reward those that take advantage of our trunk shows and place their order that weekend so we offer various discounts and fun incentives.  We try to mix it up each time to keep it interesting. Sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date on news and events.

We hope we answered most of your questions, and please feel free to ask us any other questions or concerns that you may have. We look forward to meeting you!
